Former Chicago Cubs slugger Cody Bellinger continues to be one of the hottest names on the free agent market. After signing a prove-it deal with the Cubs in 2023, Bellinger's back on the market looking to get paid.

The former MVP slashed .307/.356/.525 and blasted 26 home runs for Chicago last season. After posting a .210/.265/.389 slash line in 2022, 2023 was what fans expected of him.

After winning the MVP in 2019, the struggles started for Bellinger. With the Covid season issues and then struggling after the pandemic, he wasn't playing the way that everyone expected him to. That all changed this past season and now he's once again regarded as one of the game's best with many potential suitors.

Jeff Passan, MLB insider for ESPN, believes that the San Francisco Giants could be in play to sign him this offseason.

"Their attempt to sign Judge last year fell short, and the Carlos Correa failed-physical debacle kept them from exiting the winter with a franchise-type player," writes Passan. "This offseason, Ohtani is a possibility, but should he decide to go elsewhere, the Giants' need to land Yamamoto or Cody Bellinger becomes that much more acute."

Passan then goes on to say the perfect transaction for the Giants is signing Cody Bellinger. San Francisco has been looking for a star talent throughout the past few offseason and Bellinger brings them just that.

This could also be a preferred move for the 2020 World Series champion as he can play on the West Coast again.
