New York Mets Predicted In Playoffs, Not New York Yankees

A bold prediction from an ESPN insider has the New York Mets making the postseason but leaving the New York Yankees out .

After a tough start to the 2024 season, the New York Mets have turned it around. The Mets have now won three straight series and will have an opportunity to make that four straight starting Monday night against an improved Pittsburgh Pirates team.

If New York can win another series, they should feel confident about what they've put together in the first month.

Their cross-town rivals, the New York Yankees, have played as well as any team in baseball to start the year. After missing the postseason, the Yankees look primed to return and make a name for themselves in October.

However, AJ Mass of ESPN believes they won't make the playoffs.

In ESPN's hot take article, Mass predicts the Mets will make the postseason and the team from the Bronx won't.

New York sits at 12-4, but Mass writes that due to the American League East being as tight as it is, the Yankees will miss the postseason.

The same could be said for the National League East, but New York did catch a break with Spencer Strider going down, and they're only 2.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves despite the slow start.

If the Mets make the postseason this year, it'd be somewhat of a surprise after the offseason they had. This is more of a gap year for the organization and anything that comes with it is just viewed as extra.

It's still early in the season and as they saw from the first week of the season, they'll struggle during parts throughout 162 games. However, if they can continue to score runs, they should find themselves in a favorable position.
