Star Outfielder Reportedly Available; Could Mets Be Potential Landing Spot?

Should the Mets pursue a trade for this All-Star outfielder?

The New York Mets need to make some serious moves this offseason if they hope to turn things around for 2024.

After losing their top two starting pitchers at last year's trade deadline, the Mets have focused on retooling their rotation.

However, starting pitching is not the only department that needs bolstering and pursuing a hard-hitting outfielder might be in the club's best interest.

"Randy Arozarena is available, and it is believed his name has come up in different scenarios, as well," MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported on Sunday.

Arozarena batted .254 with 45 extra-base hits including 23 home runs, 83 RBIs, and .789 OPS in 151 games played for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2023.

The left fielder has clocked 70 home runs and holds a 126 OPS+ over his last four seasons. Arozarena is showing immense potential and just might be a weapon the Mets need to acquire.

Mets president of baseball operations David Stearn acknowledged that the organization is looking to bring in an outfielder and Arozarena fits perfectly.

Adding the young and reliable bat of Arozarena will bolster the Mets' lineup and fill in the missing left-field link. The 28-year-old has three years of team control and could become a cost-effective core player for Cohen's franchise.

Hopefully, the Mets will pursue a trade to acquire the young slugger before it's too late.
