The Baltimore Orioles have called up top prospect Jackson Holliday. The phenom is widely regarded as the top prospect in baseball, will have an opportunity to prove his worth after starting the season in Triple-A.

The Orioles announced that Holliday will wear No. 7, which was worn by Cal Ripken Sr.

His son, Baltimore favorite and baseball legend, Cal Ripken Jr., took to X to announce how thrilled the family is that Holliday will wear his dad's No. 7.

Ripken seems just as excited as all Orioles fans today, and rightfully so. Holliday is viewed as a generational prospect and someone who has the chance to be a staple in Baltimore for the next decade if things go as planned.

He proved his worth in Spring Training, slashing .311/.354/.600 with three doubles, two triples, and two home runs in 45 at-bats. Calling him up now has everything to do with service time, as it was clear he deserved an opportunity to be on the Opening Day roster.

Instead, he joins the Orioles 10 games into the season, making his debut against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Baltimore's currently 6-4 on the year. The offense has struggled at times, so this is a good opportunity for Holliday to come in and show he can make an immediate impact.

Expectations are high for the son of former big-leaguer Matt Holliday, but he's proven every step of the way that he has what it takes.

The Ripken family, Orioles fans, and baseball fans are excited for his debut as a potential superstar is getting his chance to shine.
