There is a heated competition within the Baltimore Orioles' bullpen during Spring Training as the front office and coaching staff figure out who should be part of the Opening Day roster.

If Kyle Bradish and John Means had been healthy, then maybe there wouldn't be as much of a competition amongst the relief staff. But, with two projected bullpen pieces moving into the starting rotation to start the year, there are spots up for grabs.

The Orioles decided to move on from their veteran reliever Mychal Givens after the season since he only made six appearances because of two long-term stints on the injured list.

2023 was the second time that the right-hander had been with the franchise after being selected in the second round by Baltimore in the 2009 MLB Draft.

After making his debut six years later, he spent just over six seasons with the Orioles, posting an ERA of 3.32 across 296 games and 336 innings pitched.

He was one of their better relievers until they decided to ship him to the Colorado Rockies in 2020.

Givens played for three other teams before returning to Baltimore in 2023.

After a disappointing season marred by injury and poor play, the 33-year-old has signed a minor league deal with the Miami Marlins according to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com.

He'll get invited to their big league camp as well, hoping he can perform well enough during the exhibition period that he finds himself on the Opening Day roster.

Givens has been a solid reliever throughout his career, having a 3.47 ERA across 425 games and over 460 innings pitched.
