The San Diego Padres are trying to put their 2024 disappointing season behind them.

They split the Seoul Series in Korea against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and have split the first two games of their first series back in America against the San Francisco Giants.

The Padres are trying to rebound this year after struggling during the 2023 campaign. After going 89-73 in 2022 and advancing to the NLCS, San Diego was expected to build off that performance. However, they missed the playoffs in 2023 as a talented Padres team fell by the wayside.

Recently, Padres' outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. reflected on what went wrong a season ago.

“I feel like last year we got a little bit too caught up on what could have been,’’ Tatis Jr. said, via USA Today's Bob Nightengale. “Instead of focusing every day and playing the game the right way. It was like going out there trying to show star power or something like that.’’

Now, the Padres head into the rest of the 2024 regular season with a new manager in Mike Shildt, after former manager Bob Melvin departed in the offseason for the Giants. They will also try and rebound without players like Juan Soto and Josh Hader, who departed this offseason.
