Long-time San Diego Padres relief pitcher Luis Perdomo was released by the Washington Nationals earlier this week.

Perdomo was in Washington's camp on a minor league deal. The 30-year-old reliever was a Padre from 2016 to 2020. In five seasons as a Padre, he recorded a 20-31 record with 333 strikeouts, a 79 ERA+, a 4.44 FIP, and a 1.51 WHIP in 133 games and 26 starts.

He started his career in San Diego; however, after his fifth season, he underwent Tommy John surgery in October 2020, and a month later, the Padres designated him for assignment.
Perdomo signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2020 after his time in San Diego. However, he didn't appear with the big league club until 2022.

He posted a 3.80 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 23.2 innings. He spent the 2023 season with the Chiba Lotte Marines of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) and was named an All-Star in the league. Earlier this year, he got his shot back in the States when he signed a minor league deal with the Nationals.

That was short-lived, and now he will look for another chance elsewhere.
