The San Diego Padres have not yet been eliminated from postseason contention. Seriously.

With just five days to go until the end of the regular season, the Padres remain mathematically alive.

There were three scenarios for the Padres to be eliminated on Wednesday not including their game against the San Francisco Giants, yet none of the teams were able to win and knock San Diego out. So, as of now, the Padres still have a chance.

But I know what you're wondering:

What Needs to Happen for San Diego to Make the 2023 Postseason?

It's actually quite simple, so let me tell you.

The Padres need to win out, beating the Giants on Wednesday and sweeping the Chicago White Sox this weekend.

Then, the Miami Marlins need to finish the season 0-4 with one game against the New York Mets and three against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Then, the Chicago Cubs need to finish the season 0-4, with one game against the Atlanta Braves and three against the Milwaukee Brewers.

And then, the Cincinnati Reds need to finish the season 1-2 or 0-3, with three games left against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? No. But the fact that the Padres are still alive as of right now just shows that anything is truly possible.

Do you believe?
