Ex-Padres Superstar Juan Soto Wants Blake Snell To Join Him With Yankees

Could another former Padres superstar end up with the Yankees?

Where will Blake Snell ultimately end up?

This is one of the biggest unanswered questions swirling around baseball as Spring Training officially gets underway. The former San Diego Padres star still is available in free agency despite Spring Training games kicking off.

It's unclear where he will land, but the New York Yankees have been mentioned as an option on multiple occasions, although a move is unlikely.

While this is the case, fellow former Padres star Juan Soto seems to want to team back up with Snell in New York, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"New Yankees superstar Juan Soto enthusiastically endorsed the idea of the team signing National League Cy Young winner Blake Snell, which would make the Yankees the first team to combine the two reigning Cy Young winners in one Opening Day rotation," Heyman said. “It would be unbelievable to have two Cy Young winners going back to back, it’d be great,” Soto told The Post about his former Padres teammate and Yankees ace Gerrit Cole. “(Snell’s) a great guy, a great player. Any help that we can get I would love.

“I know if he’s coming over, he’s going to help the team big-time. It’s always great to have great talent on the team. I would never say no. So it’s a great fit for him, I think.”

New York had an underwhelming 2023 season and the starting rotation was a major reason why. Landing Snell would make a lot of sense despite a massive price tag. It wouldn't be too surprising to see two former San Diego stars in New York in 2024.
