A new season and more enormous expectations for your San Diego Padres. The Friars will head into the 2023 season with one goal: win a World Series title. The Padres have yet to accomplish this feat in their franchise history, and they're looking at 2023 as the year.

San Diego certainly believes they have the tools in place to be the last team standing, and many experts are picking them to do so, including the Atheltic's MLB senior writer Jim Bowden. Bowden believes the Padres will capture their first World Series title against a team representing the AL East.

"The Padres and Blue Jays will meet in the World Series with the Padres winning their first world championship. The title will raise the ire of many major-league owners because the significant sums the Padres invested in players actually paid off. The city of San Diego ends up having two parades: a boat parade and a street parade."

Not only does Bowden predict a Padre title,  but he predicts not one but two parades in the city of San Diego. San Diego is a gorgeous city on the Pacific Ocean coast, so I could see the Padres pull off something like that. San Diego will go wild if that holds to be accurate; I could imagine the atmosphere.

And that's a realistic outcome. Padres GM AJ Preller and company have built a championship roster that will undoubtedly make some noise this season. Superstars at every position and the hunger from the players to get the job done in 2023. Could we be looking at a dynasty, or am I getting ahead of myself? We'll see what this season holds for the Friars, but it's hard not to look ahead at what can be.
