The San Diego Padres shocked the baseball world when they acquired right-handed pitcher Dylan Cease from the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night just before their flight to Korea.

While Cease wasn't able to make it quick enough to join his new teammates on their flight, he will be joining the team in Korea ahead of the Seoul Series.

For now, though, Cease is back at Padres camp.

Here's the first look at Cease in his new threads:

Cease will be heading to Seoul Thursday night to join his new teammates. He's not expected to pitch in Korea, but will factor into the rotation when the team returns.

Cease joins Joe Musgrove and Yu Darvish to form one of the most formidable top of the rotations in MLB.

He shores up the Padres' biggest need entering the 2024 season, and will look to have a season similar to the one he had in 2022.

In 2022, Cease had a 2.20 ERA in 32 starts and finished second in American League Cy Young voting.

In 2023, Cease had a 4.58 ERA in 33 starts.

The 28-year-old is due $8 million this year and is under team control for 2025, too.
