Former Padres Pitcher Signs MiLB Deal With Nationals

The one-time Padre is heading to Washington, D.C.

One-time San Diego Padre starting pitcher Zach Davies is heading to the East Coast.

The 31-year-old starting pitcher has signed a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals. Andrew Golden of the Washington Post was among the first to report.

Davies spent the shortened 2020 season in the brown and gold. As a Friar, Davies had the best season of his career.

He recorded a 2.73 ERA, the lowest in his major league career, a 7-4 record, 63 strikeouts and a 1.07 WHIP in 69.1 innings over 12 starts.

It was his first year away from the team he started his career with, the Milwaukee Brewers. After the 2020 season, Davies joined the Chicago Cubs for the 2021 season and has spent the last two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Davies pitched in four games in the minor leagues last year, both in Double-A and Triple-A.

Overall, he possesses a 3.69 ERA, 502 strikeouts, and a 1.31 WHIP in 113 games in the minor leagues. We wish the right-handed pitcher the best and hope to see him in the majors soon.
