There is already an astonishing amount of negative noise surrounding the Padres franchise right now and I can only imagine how much louder it would have been had they dropped their Friday night game against the Atlanta Braves. By no means was it a dominant or even a textbook-win, but the guys stepped up and filled in wherever was necessary.

All eyes were on the bullpen after the first stretch of innings finished up and Blake Snell exited the game. He had allowed four runs in a performance that did not meet his usual standards but his relievers more than compensated for him.

The likes of Josh Hader, Luis Garcia, and Brent Honeywell all held it down when they entered the game and it was a breath of sigh relief for all of the San Diego fans tuning in. Snell shared in a postgame interview with members of 'The San-Diego Tribune' that he was specifically excited to see exactly how Honeywell would thrive in moments of pressure.

"Honeywell, (expletive) great job,” Martinez said after the game. “Picked me up huge right there. Picked up the whole team.” (Via San Diego-Union Tribune)

I am not saying that the Padres are the undisputed number one team in the league but I do recognize that it are there hopes to become that, actions like this one must be taken first.
