Padres at Cubs: Lineups, Predictions, and More

The Padres will look for their first win of spring training.

The San Diego Padres will search for their first spring training victory today as they take on the undefeated Chicago Cubs.

It's been tough sledding for the Padres thus far, but that's what spring is for. The Frirars will trout out 25-year-old right-handed pitcher Randy Vásquez to start the game.

Vásquez was a part of the blockbuster Juan Soto trade. He has spent the majority of his career in the minor leagues but started in five games and appeared in 11 in 2023, recording a 2-2 record with 33 strikeouts and allowing 30 hits and 12 earned runs in 37.2 innings.

The Cubs will have right-handed pitcher Javier Assad star for them.

How To Watch

  • Marquee Sports Network will televise the game on the Cusb side, while you can listen in via radio on Padres, KWFN 97.3.
  • Game Date is February 25, 2024
  • Game Time 12:05 p.m. PT

Predictions

The Padres have yet to pick up a win in spring training. Although it's not all about wins and losses in spring training, getting a W on the column is always nice.

However, in the first three games, the Padres have allowed 29 runs. Unfortunately, seeing the Padres turn things around against a tough Cubs team that will play most of their star players to start the game is challenging.

The Cubs will edge out the Padres in this one. Cubs 7, Padres 4.
