Padres at Giants: Lineups, How to Watch, Predictions, and More

Michael King gets the ball for his second spring start.

Michael King's place in the San Diego Padres' rotation can't be understated. If what he showed after moving out of the New York Yankees' bullpen and into their starting rotation at the end of last season is no fluke, the Padres might have positioned themselves well.

King, acquired in the trade that sent Juan Soto to the Bronx, starts Saturday against the San Francisco Giants in Scottsdale Stadium. The 12:10 p.m. game will mark King's second start of the exhibition season.

In two innings against the Cleveland Guardians in his first start of spring training, King did not allow a run. Saturday he'll face off against Mason Black, who starts for San Francisco.

Now he'll look to keep it going and lock down his place as the Padres' number-3 starter behind Yu Darvish and Joe Musgrove.
