Another game, another disappointing outing for your Friars, Padre fans. The Padres dropped their third game in a row and seven of their last nine games. San Diego is in a funk, and it's pivotal that they crawl out of it soon.

But how? Their bats are nowhere to be found, and it's growing to be a concern among the team and their fans. Padres DH for Tuesday night, Matt Carpenter, spoke to Padres insider for the San Diego Tribune Kevin Acee and said the team, including himself are doing too much in the box.

“We’ve gotten into a little funk as a group, and match that up with going through some really good pitching at the same time, some really good teams, and you’re seeing what you’re seeing,” designated hitter Matt Carpenter said late last night. “We’ve got some guys, myself included, that are maybe probably trying to do a little too much in some key spots and maybe not letting the game come to them. Just kind of going through one of those ruts. But I’m not overly concerned by any means. We’ve got really good players in here that know how to deal with some of the ups and downs in the game, and we’ll find our way out of it.”

Carpenter went 0-3 last night with two strikeouts and is batting .152 in 2023. The Padres only collected four hits in nine innings and have not played good baseball in the last week.

From top to bottom, no one is doing well, and the Friars are now three games under .500. The talent is there, and we're still early in the season; however, they're showing no signs of hope, and fans are starting to become uneasy.

We'll see how they respond.
