It seems like Snell is close to signing somewhere.

Somehow it's almost mid-March and former San Diego Padres ace Blake Snell is still unsigned. He has been reportedly looking for a contract over $200 million, with no teams willing to meet his asking price yet.

However, there has been much speculation of late that he could be close to a decision in his free agency sweepstakes. It's been rumored that Snell strongly prefers to land with the Los Angeles Angels, but the Angels haven't put a deal on the table he deems worthy yet.

Snell added some fuel to the fire on Sunday, posting a cryptic social media story. It was a simple eye emoji, but with all the rumors flying around, a decision could be coming soon.

Snell won the National League Cy Young Award last season while with the Padres, so it's a little shocking that he is still a free agent. Teams are hesitant to hand out large deals to older free-agent pitchers, even if he has shown a level of dominance over time

If he were to land with the Angels, it would be a win for the Padres. The organization doesn't want him to land in the NL West and he has been rumored to be courted by the rival San Francisco Giants a few times this winter.

While fans would love to see Snell return to San Diego, it's extremely unlikely. It seems that the team has moved on from him, and it'll be interesting to see where he ultimately lands with interested teams dwindling.
