The San Diego Padres have been far from perfect ever since Gary Sanchez arrived on board but they definitely have improved and he's brought new life to their catcher position that was in dire need of some upgrades. Time and time again, he has already came up huge at the plate when the team needed him to along with building chemistry with the starting pitchers.

All they really needed from Sanchez was to be able to help them improve their RISP and actually capitalize on any runners that made it to base. They were starting to remain at the bottom of the league in this category and with Austin Nola coming up short in numerous outings, the addition of Sanchez has been huge.

Since welcoming him to the lineup, the Friars have gone 7-4 and he already has five homers in that time span. In San Diego's most recent win over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday, Sanchez got them rolling in the first inning with a single that brought Manny Machado in.

He is quickly winning over not just the fanbase but also the organization as a whole.

Team manager Bob Melvin had already made it clear that they had big plans for Sanchez when they signed him and that they knew he still had plenty left in the tank but those compliments have only grown.

Melvin believes that Sanchez is in a whole different place now than he was before and that San Diego is the perfect environment for him to thrive.

“In a place like New York, you can get some criticism pretty quickly. But I like his skills behind the plate right now.”

Let's hope that he can keep these big plays coming!
