Bob Melvin has put together quite the squad over in San Diego, one so good that BETMGM has them as the team with sixth best odds to win the World Series this season. The former catcher has been named Manager of the Year three times and is looking to capture a fourth.

However, the biggest priority for the Padres is to handle unfinished business from last year now that the team is healthy again. Their fanbase is ready for the team to bring home some hardware with a loaded deck. Ahead of spring training Melvin spoke to the media and addressed whether or not fan expectations have ever been higher.

"I can say probably not, it's pretty cool to see," said Melvin. "You know, what we saw at FanFest, you know, the participation and how many people were here for that. You can tell everybody is ready for the season and then just kind of the buildup, whether it's the players, whether it's what you're reading, certainly the feel in San Diego, it's really cool".

Padres FanFest had a very successful turnout, giving out about 150,000 tickets and seeing approximately 48,000 fans attend. Star players such as Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. spoke about the team's goals this season and made it clear they have the same visions as the fans when it comes to postseason success.

San Diego only has two World Series appearances in their entire franchise history and they failed to come out on top both times. Melvin and the rest of the front office have made sure to lock down key players that are sure to contribute to a potential title run.
