The San Diego Padres are on a roll in mid-June as they have won four of their last five games and inching closer to .500. It's been frustrating to watch this team underachieve, but they seem to be getting on the right path going into the dog days of the season.

The Friars will look to climb up in the NL West standings and Wild Card standing, and they could do so by scoring in the first inning. The game is nine innings long, but according to San Diego Tribunes writer and Padres insider Kevin Acee, they tend to get on the right track when they score in the first.

Tuesday was just the 10th time in 32 games at Petco Park in which the Padres scored in the first inning. They are 7-3 in those games, including a 6-1 mark when scoring multiple runs in the first.

The Padres did just that in their Tuesday win against the Cleveland Guardians, scoring four of their six runs in the first inning. The Friars superstars are doing their thing, and the unexpected emergence of catcher Gary Sanchez has been a beacon of light for the team.

It's nice when they score in the first to get their feet under them, but if they were spread out those runs throughout the course of the game, that'd be nice as well.

We'll see if they can continue their first-inning success, and if they do, more times than not, the Padres will put some wins on the board.
