The San Diego Padres will now watch Julio Teheran suit up for the Milwaukee Brewers almost as fast as they watched him opt out of his minor league contract with them.

At 32-years-old, Teheran is one of the more experienced pitchers in the league and put together quite the resume during his time with the Atlanta Braves. Even though he's only seen time in the minor leagues over the past two seasons, the hope was that he could potentially prove that he deserved a crack at the main roster this year.

The Friars are always moving their roster around and calling players up so their front office did have a vision in which Teheran could provide a spark similar to his All-Star seasons in 2014 and 2016.

Unfortunately, that just wasn't looking like it was going to be the case seeing how his stint with AAA El Paso was panning out. In eight games with them, he posted a 5.63 ERA and went 4-2. It wasn't bad by any means but it would've taken a disaster in their main rotation for SD to bring him up.

Therefore, Teheran exercised his right to opt out of his contract and will now be on a major league deal with the Brewers.

Teheran has been in the league for 11 years now and obviously wanted a bigger role that the Friars were unable to give him. It's great to see that he has indeed found what he wanted and we wish him the best of luck moving forward.
