The San Diego Padres will look to tie the four-game series against the Chicago Cubs tonight after dropping their 32nd game of the year on Sunday.

Sunday's loss came at the heels of another lackluster offensive performance. It's been disappointing all year, but it has been a common theme throughout the season. The offesne was only able to score one eight runs in three games, which deems the question, why is the offense this inconsistent all the time? We're not quite sure of the answer, and apparently, neither is superstar Juan Soto

The 24-year-old was asked why the Friars continue to have these inconsistencies on offense, and he said he isn't the right guy to answer that question.

"I don't think I'm the guy to respond to that question. I think we have those guys down there. They know better than me. I don't know. I really don't know what is going on..."

He might be just the person to ask this question to. In his past seven games, he's batting .158 while slugging .211 after killing it in May, batting in the 300's.

This has been the theme for the Padres all season long. When you think they're going to figure it out, they revert to looking like they don't know what they're doing.

Soto sounds frustrated, and you can't blame him. It's not fun when you're losing and falling back in the standings after these wild expectations the Friars had.

However, at the end of the day, we still expect them to be in the mix of things when the real season begins, but this isn't a switch they can turn on and off. The Padres need to play the right brand of baseball if they want to be the championship contenders we all thought they'd be.
