The San Diego Padres are bolstering their minor league arms. On Thursday, Pirates beat writer Jason Mackey announced that Pirates reliever Blake Cederlind has signed with your San Diego Padres.

The 27-year-old will make his way back to California as Blake Cederlind is a California native from Turlock. Well, at least he'll be a part of the Padres organization, Cederlind will be joining the Arizona Complex League (ACL).

Blake last pitched in the major leagues in 2020 with Pittsburgh, and in five games, he earned a 4.50 ERA in four innings and 67 pitches. In 2023, he has gone 1-1 with a 13.50 ERA, six strikeouts, and a 2.00 WHIP in six innings and five games. Overall, Cederlind has a 5.20 ERA in the minor leagues, which isn't ideal, but we'll see if he can improve with the Padres organization.

You could never go wrong with a minor-league deal, and we'll see how Blake fares with the Friars.
