In the fifth inning of Friday night's loss, Padres fans had a reason to jump out of their seats as a pitch from Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly sailed up and in on Fernando Tatis, nearly hitting the outfielder and knocking the bat out of his hands.

A second pitch came up and in and Tatis hurdled himself out of the way and onto the dirt. One pitch later he struck out looking and Kelly turned away while muttering a not safe for work sentiment toward Nando.

The moment blew up on social media with clips piling up on Twitter within minutes. And the more you watch the moment, the more you wonder, was Joe Kelly way out of line?

Baseball YouTube star Fuzzy felt that way, citing Kelly's past occasions of hitter vs batter drama. Or "antics."

One commenter put the onus on Tatis for his reaction to the first pitch, which just feels like a lazy take.

Other Friars Faithful sounded off online about the incident, sharing their distaste for Joe Kelly.

Kelly likely won't face any punishment from the league but it's something that should maybe be explored at least a little bit. He angrily threw a second pitch up and in for Fernando's perceived overreaction after the first up and in pitch. Then struck him out and spouted off expletives.

There was at least some intent to the whole interaction.

We'll see whether or not the Padres retaliate tonight at Petco.
