Padres Rumors: Insider Lists 5 Teams as Potential Landing Spots for Juan Soto

Where will Soto land?

Although two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani will dominate this winter, Padres superstar slugger Juan Soto is also dominating headlines.

There is a strong possibility the Friars will trade the three-time All-Star; the only question is where he will land.

It's not like the Padres want to trade him, but they need to in order to open up a more feasible path to acquiring their other needs, like pitching.

A Soto trade at this point is inevitable, so MLB insider Mike Petriello listed the five best suitors for the four-time silver slugger, and they go like this.

At No. 5 is the New York Mets. The Mets, like the Padres, aren't scared to spend big on a star player, as we've seen for the last two seasons. On top of that, they desperately need an outfielder and another power hitter, and Soto fits the bill.

Next on the list are the Chicago Cubs, who are searching for a superstar player. They were only one game out of the Wild Card spot and will look to compete against the best in baseball next season.

The third team on the list is the San Francisco Giants. Trading their star player to a division rival isn't ideal for the Padres, but the Giants desperately need a superstar and could offer the farm and more for the young superstar.

The top two teams on the list are two AL East rivals, the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees. The Blue Jays want to go big-fish hunting this winter, and Soto could fit the bill. As for the Yankees, it feels like they have been in the running for Soto forever. The Yankees will continue to be in the running and front runners for the remainder of the offseason until he's traded somewhere. Soto to New York feels inevitable at this point, but we'll see if San Diego budges.
