The San Diego Padres made a big splash on Sunday morning. ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan reported that the Padres and Manny Machado agreed to an 11-year, $350 million deal to stay in southern California.

This new deal makes it the fourth-largest deal in MLB history behind Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, and Aaron Judge.

Manny was set to opt out of the contract he signed with San Diego in 2019 worth $300 million for ten years.

He will remain in San Diego throughout the rest of his career, which will carry him into his age-41 season.

It’s safe to say Padre fans are enthusiastic about the signing.

The Padres All-Star is here to stay, and fans are ecstatic, to say the least.

Manny is coming off one of his best seasons as a pro. He came in second in NL MVP voting while slashing .298/.366/.531 with a .898 OPS, knocking 32 out of the park and driving in 102 runs in 150 games.

Machado will look to capture an elusive title he so desperately covets and bring home San Diego’s first-ever World Series title.

The Friars have as good a shot as anybody for the next handful of years as they have Xander Bogaerts, Fernando Tatis Jr, and Juan Soto under contract for the next two seasons. Three of the big four are under contract beyond 2025.
