Alex Rodriguez Gives Prediction on Former Team Texas Rangers, Houston Astros in ALCS

The FOX panel of baseball experts gave their predictions on Texas Rangers and Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series.

HOUSTON – Fans from Texas Rangers and Houston Astros obviously have their predictions on the extended Silver Boot Series title and who will bring home the American League pennant.

But during the pregame FOX broadcast, the panelists were asked to lock in their predictions. Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter pegged the Rangers to claim their first pennant since 2011, expecting the series would go a full seven games.

David Ortiz called on the defending World Series champs to reach the Fall Classic for the fifth time in seven years. The Hall of Fame designee picked the Astros to win in six.

A-Rod played for the Rangers after signing a record-setting $250 million contract for 10 years in 2001. He did win the MVP for Texas in 2003, but was traded to the New York Yankees in 2004 and teamed up with Jeter to win a World Series in 2009.

After holding the AL West lead for most of the season, Texas dropped three of four to the Seattle Mariners to close the regular season, opening the door for Houston to take the crown, a first-round bye and eventually the homefield advantage in the ALCS.

The Rangers and Astros both went 90-72, but Houston won the season series 9-4.

Game 1 of the series got underway Sunday night with Houston starting ace Justin Verlander opposite Texas left-hander Jordan Montgomery.

The series continues Tuesday afternoon back at Minute Maid Park with Nathan Eovaldi going for Texas and Houston countering with Framber Valdez. Max Scherzer is expected to make his postseason debut Wednesday in Game 3 when the series shifts to Globe Life Field in Arlington.
