Creed Makes ALCS Game 3 Appearance at Texas Rangers, Houston Astros

Creed, the late 1990s band, has become a favorite of the Texas Rangers and their fanbase.

ARLINGTON, Texas – The early highlight for fans at the Texas Rangers' American League Championship game Wednesday night against the Houston Astros may have come between the second and third innings.

That’s when the in-house entertainment started up the sing-a-long to the Creed song “Higher,” which has become an anthem of sorts since Andrew Heaney let on that the Rangers listen to the late 90s-early 2000s group in the clubhouse.

The curveball came early in the song though as the band was actually in the house, taking in Game 3 of the series against the Astros. They were shown on the big screen and met with a thunderous ovation.

Once the band found out about the team’s affection for them, attending a game was a no-brainer.

“I think it was around the same day Andrew announced it, I think it was the 8th of this month,” front man Scott Stapp said. “I was just floored and excited that the music after all these years is still connecting for people, still exciting. I’m grateful to be part of the ride.”

The members of the band didn’t get a chance to meet with any of the Rangers before the game, but we’re hopeful that would happen.

If there were any questions about their allegiance to the Rangers, Stapp cleared that up.

“We’re fans of baseball,” Stapp said. “And, of course, how could you not embrace a city that’s embraced us for so many years, with the Cowboys back in the early 2000s, and now with the Rangers. We’re fans of anybody who supports us.”

So is there any chance that there could be a Creed-Rangers collaboration for the national anthem if the club advances to the World Series?

“I’ve done that quite a few times,” Stapp said. “Under the right circumstances it could happen.”
