Texas Rangers to Wear Nike City Connect Jerseys For First Time

The Texas Rangers will join five other teams in wearing the Nike City Connect jerseys for the first time in 2023.

The Texas Rangers will debut their Nike City Connect jerseys on April 21 against Oakland Athletics at Globe Life Field.

The Rangers are one of six teams that will wear City Connect jerseys for the first time in 2023. The others are the Atlanta Braves, Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Rangers have not unveiled what their jerseys will look like yet nor how often they'll be worn. The Braves leaked theirs on Monday, which are a call-back to the home jerseys they wore when Hank Aaron played for the team in the 1970s.

The Athletics game will also feature a Marcus Semien bobblehead giveaway. It’s the first game of a three-game standalone homestand for the Rangers.

According to Nike and MLB, the jerseys are designed to explore “the personality, values and customs that make each community and their residents unique.”

The Rangers celebrated their 50th anniversary in Arlington last season, wearing their first home uniforms and hats several times during the season.

The Rangers are also sun-setting their red jerseys, which they normally wore on Fridays, due to an MLB rule that says teams can only have three sets of uniforms, outside of the City Connect jerseys.
