Watch: Jonah Heim Blasts Grand Slam as Texas Rangers Lead Twins

Texas Rangers catcher Jonah Heim broke out a slump since his return from the injured list with a grand slam Sunday at the Minnesota Twins.

Jonah Heim may officially be in slump since coming off the injured list, but it sure doesn't feel like it after Sunday’s grand slam for the Texas Rangers against the Minnesota Twins.

The All-Star catcher golfed a fourth-inning shot off Twins starter Bailey Ober into the seats in left. The ball traveled 372 feet with an exit velocity of 104.9 mph at a launch angle of 23 degrees.

It also staked Texas starter Jordan Montgomery to a 5-0 lead midway through the game. The Rangers got on the board in the second on the first career home run from rookie J.P. Martinez.

Heim had been mired in a 0-for-13 and 2-for-25 slump since coming off the IL on Aug. 13. He’s started only against right-handed pitchers since coming back.

The grand slam was the second of Heim’s career and scored Nathaniel Lowe, Mitch Garver and Robbie Grossman. Heim has 15 homers and a career-high 74 RBI this season. He hadn't driven in a run in 12 games.

The Rangers were looking to split the four-game series after snapping a season-high eight-game losing streak in Saturday's 6-2 victory.

Texas can’t into Sunday tied with the Seattle Mariners atop the American League West.
