Ex-Red Sox Fan Favorite, All-Star Set To Join Independent League Club

One former Red Sox All-Star seems to be making a comeback

One former member of the Boston Red Sox is looking to make a comeback.

At one point this past offseason it seemed like former Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. was going to be retiring. There were rumors that he was considering hanging up his cleats but it seems like that isn't the case yet.

Bradley will be joining the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League, according to MLB Trade Rumors' Darragh McDonald.

"The Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League announced that they have signed outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. He’s the second former big leaguer they’ve signed this week, joining left-hander Wei-Yin Chen, who signed with the Ducks on Tuesday as he apparently embarks on an age-38 comeback attempt.

"Bradley, 34 this month, has played in the past 11 major league seasons, carving out a career as a superb defender in the outfield who could occasionally chip in with the bat and on the basepaths as well."

The one-time All-Star was selected by the Red Sox in the first round of the 2011 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft and eventually made his big league debut with the club in 2013. He was an important part of the Red Sox's roster and spent the first eight seasons of his career in town.

Bradley won two World Series titles with Boston. He had a second stint with the Red Sox for part of the 2022 season and also has spent time with the Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Kansas City Royals throughout his big league career.

Hopefully, he is able to shine with the Ducks and work his way back to the big leagues.
