Report: Reds Address Starting Rotation, Signing Frankie Montas in Free Agency
CINCINNATI — The Reds are signing right-hander Frankie Montas according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Montas, 30, gives Cincinnati a proven starter. He'll join a rotation that includes Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo and Graham Ashcraft.
It's a one-year deal with $16 million according to Bob Nightengale.
Montas only appeared in one game last year due to a shoulder injury. He posted a 4.05 ERA and made 27 starts in 2022. He tossed 144 1/3 innings for the Athletics and Yankees. He had a 3.18 ERA with Oakland before being traded to New York.
