Minnesota Twins make another around of spring cuts

Twins have 17 days to cut active roster to 26 players

The Twins announced a second round of spring cuts Monday. All four roster moves were pitchers, three righties and one lefty.

The four cuts were:

  • LHP Brent Headrick
  • RHP Simeon Woods Richardson
  • RHP Matt Canterino
  • RHP David Festa

Headrick, Woods Richardson and Canterino were optioned to Triple-A St. Paul, with Festa reassigned to the Twins' minor league camp. Festa was the only one of the four not on the Twins' 40-man roster.

Minnesota have until March 28 to finalize their 26-man roster, with no more than 13 pitchers. Currently the Twins have 46 active players in Spring Training, ten of which are non-roster invitees.

The current make-up of the roster:

  • 22 pitchers (4 non-roster)
  • 5 catchers (2 non-roster)
  • 10 infielders (3 non-rosters)
  • 7 outfielders (0 non-roster)
  • 2 utility players (1 non-roster)

The Twins have just one player on the 60-day injured list.

Minnesota opens its 2024 season at Kansas City on March 28.
