Reports: Twins acquire Manny Margot from Dodgers for former first-round pick

Margot hit four homers and 38 RBIs for Tampa Bay in 2023

The Twins have acquired Dodgers outfielder Manny Margot as part of a three player trade.

As well as Margot, the Twins are acquiring third base prospect Rayne Doncon and cash from Los Angeles, in exchange for shortstop prospect Noah Miller, according to MLB.com's Juan Toribio.

Margot slashed .264/.310/.376 with four homers and 38 RBI in 99 games for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2023. The 29-year-old is a career .255 hitter in eight years in the big leagues. He was a part of the trade that sent starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow to the Dodgers in December.

The trade came as part of a series of moves for Los Angeles. Moments after reports broke of the trade, utility-man Kike Hernandez announced he agreed to a one-year deal with the Dodgers. The Twins were reportedly one of four finalists for Hernandez.

Doncon is a 20-year-old third base prospect that has been in the Dodgers system since the 2021 season. He spent the 2023 season in Single-A, where he averaged .216 and hit 14 home runs and 52 RBIs.

Miller was a Twins first-round pick in the 2021 draft out of Ozaukee High School in Fedonia, Wisconsin.

The 21-year-old spent the 2023 season with the Twins Single-A+ affiliate Cedar Rapids Kernels, where he hit eight home runs and 60 RBI while slashing .223/.309/.340.
