2020 OOTP sim: Lions, Bears, and Tigers weather

Six of 10 from the Tigers ain't gonna hack it

DETROIT — It managed to rain lions and bears while the Tigers pulled one out in a 9-4 win in the series finale — with big help from Victor Reyes.

Reyes went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two singles, and two runs, pacing the Bengals to an easy laffer on the South Side.

Dallas Keuchel suffered through five painful innings in his failed outing, dropping the Sox to 42-39 overall. And Yoán Moncada of 2018 made an appearance, with three strikeouts in four at-bats.

Chicago started out hot, as Eloy Jiménez and Edwin Encarnación got on base in the first and came home on Luis Torrens' first White Sox home run homer. Their hard work was cancelled out almost immediately, as the Tigers second led with a three-run homer by Jeimer Candelario and was chased with one more tally, bringing the Tigers to a 4-3 lead — one they would not relinquish.

Detroit's hit parade continued into the third, with a double and sac fly to make it 5-3, Tigers

A valiant attempt to catch up came not in the form of a homer or double off the wall — but a failed suicide squeeze by Matt McPhearson, cutting down Nick Madrigal at home. It was the first failed suicide squeeze for the Sox this year in four attempts.

Jonathan Schoop’s three-run homer in the fifth booted Keuchel from the game, down 8-3. Another two hits off Matt Strahm led to the final scoring from the Tigers for the rest of the game.

The Sox started mounting a comeback in the bottom of the eighth with a one-out Encarnación homer bringing us to 9-4. But that was the last trip anyone made around the bases.

McPhearson’s day ended in the ninth, with a diving catch that injured his wrist and sent him to the injured list.

All in all, it was not a quality outing in this fake game. Better luck next time, y’all.
