76ers vs Blazers: 3 Takeaways From Blowout Win

Coming off a big win against the Toronto Raptors last night, the Philadelphia 76ers took their home floor on Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers. Even with it being the second leg of a home/road back-to-back, Joel Embiid and company managed to take care of business.

Thanks to stellar performances from multiple Sixers, they managed to pick up a win in convincing fashion. They walked away with a 126-98 win against the Blazers to move to 2-1 on the year. Here are some of the key takeaways from the matchup.

Tobias Harris has efficient night

Tobias Harris hasn't got much attention to start the year, but he had his best performance of the season against the Blazers. He finished with 24 points and five rebounds while shooting a stellar 8-for-11 from the field.

With Tyrese Maxey taking a big step forward thus far, Harris has to yet again adjust his role. Most notably, being effective with a smaller number of touches.

After a handful of games, the veteran forward seems to be finding his stride in his new coach's system. The Sixers need to find more offensive production outside of Joel Embiid and Maxey, and Harris continues to be a reliable option.

Tyrese Maxey with shocking double-double

As a smaller guard, Maxey isn't known for being much of a rebounder. That said, it's one of the lesser talked about things from his play through three games. In a shocking turn of events, the rising star picked up his first double-double of the year with rebounds.

Similar to the first two games, Maxey stayed hot as a scorer. He finished as the Sixers' second-leading scorer with 26 points. Maxey also grabbed the most rebounds on Sunday (10) outside of Joel Embiid (15).

If Maxey continues to put an emphasis on rebounding, it can add another wrinkle to the Sixers' offense. Him securing the ball sooner allows him to lead the fastbreak and put defenses on their heels with his blazing speed.

Joel Embiid does it all

With Sunday being the Sixers' third game in four nights and the second leg of a back-to-back, Embiid was questionable to play. The reigning MVP ended up suiting up and put together a showing that was nothing short of dominant.

From the opening tip, Embiid left his mark in every facet of the game. By the end of the night, he totaled 35 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a whopping six blocks. It was also an efficient night for Embiid as he connected on 12 of his 22 field goal attempts and went 9-for-12 from the free-throw line. Even with the Blazers' two-big lineup of Deandre Ayton and Robert Williams, they had no answer for slowing him down.

For someone who was on the cusp of not playing, Embiid left it all out on the floor Sunday. Given the circumstances of the game, this was a great sign of where the All-Star center is at from a conditioning standpoint as well.
