Sixers News: Kai Jones Lands 10-Day Contract

The Sixers are expected to bring on Kai Jones.

With just a few weeks to go in the regular season, the Philadelphia 76ers have made a new addition to their roster. After bringing him in for a meeting and workout, Kai Jones is expected to sign a 10-day contract.

This is the second 10-day contract the Sixers have handed out in recent weeks. They first gave one to Darius Bazley following an impressive run in the G-League. However, he has since moved on since securing a multi-year deal with the Utah Jazz

Jones, 23, was the 19th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. He spent the previous two seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, averaging 2.7 PPG and 2.0 RPG across 67 matchups. Jones was originally on the Hornets' roster this year, but was waived in October after a series of concerning social media posts.

After months of eyeing an NBA comeback, Jones now has an opportunity to find a new home in the league. The Sixers are taking a flier on the former first-round pick as their roster is still dealing with an array of injuries.

Standing at 6-foot-11, Jones brings size and athleticism to the Sixers' roster. If given the chance to play, he'll likely see minutes at center with Paul Reed and Mo Bamba. The Sixers are potentially eyeing a new route to try and fill the void left by Joel Embiid

With a little over a month left to go in the regular season, the Sixers are trying to stay afloat in the Eastern Conference playoff race. If Jones is able to provide some sort of lift, it could lead to him getting a contract in Philly or somewhere else in the future.
