*UPDATE: Tyrese Maxey is expected to be AVAILABLE on Sunday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

With the regular season winding down, the Philadelphia 76ers are squeezing out their final run of 2023-2024. Unlike previous seasons, the playoffs aren’t a lock for the Sixers. Therefore, every game from here on out counts for something.

Lately, the Sixers have had some very key names on the injury report. The All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey has been one of them.

As he deals with hip tightness, Maxey recently missed a couple of games. When the Sixers approached their matchup on the road against the Toronto Raptors last week, Maxey was questionable to play. Although he went through his workouts before the game, the team ruled him out officially, causing him to miss his first set of action since March 10.

In the following game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Maxey was once again questionable going into the game. The sequence was the same. The young guard warmed up with intentions of potentially playing but ultimately wasn’t cleared to compete.

On Thursday night is when everything changed for Maxey. He was questionable going into the matchup against the Miami Heat, but he was finally upgraded. Playing in his first game this month, Maxey checked in for 41 minutes against the Heat.

The young guard didn’t miss a beat as he drained 15 of his 26 shots from the field to score a game-high 37 points. Maxey nearly had a triple-double on the night, as he dished out 11 assists, and collected nine rebounds.

On Saturday night, the Sixers fired up a back-to-back set with a matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. Maxey’s playing streak continued, with his minutes nearly cut in half from the other night.

Checking in for just 25 minutes against a struggling and undermanned Grizzlies team, Maxey had a quiet outing. He scored just seven points while producing five assists and coming down with one rebound. Despite the lack of production from Maxey, the Sixers took on a comfortable win over the Grizzlies.

Sunday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs will be another opportunity for the Sixers to build on their current four-game win streak. There is a chance the Sixers might have to compete without Maxey.

According to the injury report, Maxey is questionable once again due to hip tightness. He is likely a game-time decision on Sunday.

The Sixers and the Spurs are set to tip-off at 7 PM ET.
