With his future up in the air the last few months, the last thing Damian Lillard needed was a prank. However, that’s exactly what happened when Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby pulled one over him.

Anunoby sent Lillard a text message telling him he was being traded to the Raptors, completely fooling him in the process. Lillard revealed the prank during an interview with Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes.

Got him good

According to Haynes, he and Lillard were talking when the latter had to cut the conversation short. The reason was that he had just received a text message from Anunoby, the Raptors’ defensive ace.

“Obviously, everything was up in the air. I was on the phone, and I just got a random text from OG like, “Welcome to Toronto,’” Lillard shared.

“He is always messing around, joking and stuff like that. We train together in the summer a little bit. So he texted me like, 'Welcome to Toronto.' I was like, let me call this dude and see. I finally called him, and he didn't answer. He called me back, and he was laughing,” Lillard continued.

Last laugh

Lillard, though, had the last laugh as he got traded to the Raptors’ Eastern Conference rivals, the Milwaukee Bucks, forming a mind-boggling duo with two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Anunoby, on the other hand, will try to lead the Raptors back to the NBA Playoffs. Although All-Star guard Fred Van Vleet moved to the Houston Rockets, the Raptors still have Scottie Barnes, Pascal Siakam, and Dennis Schroder to lead the team’s offense.
