Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan was born and raised in Compton, California. He then spent one season at USC before moving on to the pros to play for the Toronto Raptors, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Bulls. So, it would make sense that the Los Angeles Clippers would have been an attractive option for him. On Paul George's podcast, DeRozan revealed just how close he was to joining forces with Kawhi Leonard and PG on in LA.

Aggressive recruitment

PG admitted to DeRozan that he was giving it his all to try and bring the latter to the Clips and form a new "Big Three."

"I remember I was trying hard as sh** to recruit you," shared PG.

The Clippers, though, did not have enough to make a meaningful pitch to the All-Star wingman, and DeRozan ended up in Chicago.

"The business side of it was just flawed in its own right," said DeRozan. "But me just looking at it like, 'damn, I could do this? Play with my dog? Home? Alright, let's try to figure it out.'"

Happy with where he's at

DeRozan admitted that the allure of playing in his hometown was huge, but at the end of the day, he is happy with where he's at.

"I used to feel like 'Man that would have been amazing to make that happen,'" Deebo said. "But I get it from both ways now: from home, and I'm able to represent home from where I'm playing."
