Darius Garland Takes Over In Cavs Victory Over Pistons

Darius Garland connected on six threes in the second quarter of the Cleveland Cavaliers' victory over the Detroit Pistons.

Darius Garland has been the target of a lot of unwarranted criticism over the last few weeks. So much so that even Donovan Mitchell stepped in and expressed how frustrated he was with what he saw on social media from the Cleveland Cavaliers fan base.

DG put all of that to rest on Friday night as he exploded from behind the arc. The Cavs point guard finished with eight made threes (66%) which was one short of setting a career-high. The majority of this came in his second-quarter takeover in which Garland knocked down six of these threes.

He finished with 29 points and shot 43% (9-21) from the floor. This was exactly the type of game that Garland needed to get back on track. It couldn't have come at a better time either. The Cavs were missing both Donovan Mitchell and Caris LeVert due to injuries and they averaged a combined 42 points a game.

Clevland needed someone to step up and that's exactly what Garland did against the Detroit Pistons.

This is now Garland's second straight game where he dominating from a long distance. Even though the Cavs lost to the Chicago Bulls, Darius still connected on seven threes signaling he's returning to form.

We have to remember that this is a player who was on a liquid-only diet, lost 10 pounds, and gained it all back in a matter of weeks. Of course, it would take time for him to regain his confidence and groove on the floor.

Thankfully for the Cavs, he's finding his shot when they've needed it the most.
