On Wednesday, the Boston Celtics picked up a 127-120 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. This season, the Celtics are 18-0 in home games, setting a new franchise record for the best start to a campaign on their parquet.

Per Inside The Celtics, Joe Mazzulla conveyed the following about the role the TD Garden faithful play in that.

“There's been two times where I’ve actually shown that I've had a pulse. Tonight, was one of them and it’s because of the crowd. And I’m not gonna say we’re 18-0 at home without the crowd. To me, I talked about this before for a little bit, we want to create this identity of playing Celtics basketball because fans are really smart. They know when we suck, and they know when we don’t. They’ve seen great basketball for a long period of time.

"Usually, if they’re cheering, it’s because you’re doing something right. I think over the course of this season, they’ve seen moments of greatness, they’ve seen moments of Celtics basketball, and they’ve responded to that really well. I think it’s had a big impact on our team.”

Boston's bench boss further acknowledged the importance of the Celtics fan base.

“To me personally, being from here, there’s nothing better like getting the Garden crowd to appreciate Celtics basketball. I think the connectivity between us and the identity of the city and the identity of the arena is building something for us. Tonight specifically, even when we did suck, which we did at times, they did a good job of keeping us in it. I think it’s important to have that relationship with the crowd and with the city.”
