NBA All-Star Reveals Incredible Russell Westbrook Story

Tyrese Haliburton faced off against Russell Westbrook in his first NBA start.

It feels like every NBA player has their Russell Westbrook story, whether it's an older retired player, a seasoned veteran, or even a younger All-Star like Tyrese Haliburton.

Haliburton was a guest on Paul George's Podcast P show, where he revealed a hilarious story about playing against Russell Westbrook in the preseason. It was Westbrook's first year with the Los Angeles Lakers, and Haliburton's first NBA start ever.

"My second year, we played the Lakers in the preseason and it's cracking in there," Haliburton said. "Russ had just got there. I was starting, I didn't start my whole rookie year, so I'm like okay let's see what this bump is about. The first play, Russ came down and hit [De'Aaron] Fox. Fox is dumb strong, hit him, boom, laid it up, and he rocked the baby celebration. And the crowd, it was like, we was at Rucker. He rocking the baby, talking to the crowd, everybody standing up going crazy. I'm like, this is crazy. Watching those two go at it, I used to be like, yo this is like a movie."

Russell Westbrook will always be one of the most polarizing NBA players in history. Analysts and media personalities seem to never give him praise, no matter what he does, but all of his peers and teammates give him massive respect. At the end of the day, regardless of if Westbrook wins a championship, he'll be an NBA Hall of Famer despite what any critics say.
