Paul George Reacts to Suns Ending Clippers' Season

Paul George knows the Clippers could have beaten the Suns if healthy.

The common statement that's summarized the Clippers' season for numerous years in a row has been "if the Clippers were healthy, they could have won this series." That statement applied in previous years, and it applies in this one as well - even from Paul George.

On the most recent episode of Podcast P, Paul George opened up about the Phoenix Suns eliminating a shorthanded Clippers team in the first round. It was easy to tell that George's mindset was very "what could have been?"

"This was very much a series we I think should have won and could have gotten past if we [were] healthy," George said. "Absolutely I believe we had everything to beat Phoenix. It's frustrating especially as years go up, you look back at this shit and like damn another year – not necessarily wasted – but another year of not getting a chance to compete. To get to the finish line and not be able to compete is the hardest part of it all."

As frustrating as it is for Clippers fans to have another year of injuries, it's more frustrating for the player themselves. Both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard prepare every year with the intent of winning a championship and take no breaks during the summer.

"Putting myself into a fan's shoes, I get it," George said. "It is frustrating, because to them, year after year they're going through the same lulls of we got a great team, we got a chance to win, and then boom there's something that happens, whether I get injured, Kawhi get injured. Or years before I got here. Not having a star player or not being able to get over the hump. So I get it. But, I will say, myself, Kawhi we're doing everything we can. I train every summer to try and win a championship. I don't take my summers for granted, neither does Kawhi."

There's nothing that Paul George and the Clippers can do now. Their season is over against a team they could have beaten, and now all that's left to do is prepare to hopefully be healthy next season, again.
