Paul George Reveals Reason For Bringing Russell Westbrook to Clippers

Paul George and Kawhi Leonard wanted a point guard.

When Paul George publicly advocated for Russell Westbrook to join the Clippers, many thought it was just because he wanted one of his best friends on the team. It turns out, there was a little more to it.

On the first episode of Paul George's new podcast, "Podcast P", he discussed why he and Kawhi Leonard both wanted Russell Westbrook on the Clippers.

"We both loved it," Paul George said. "We thought we needed a point guard. Especially, we traded Reggie, we traded John, our two point guards. So we like, man we really need a point. I'm playing point out there, and I thought I could do it, but bro, it's a lot. Especially, when you got Jrue Holiday picking you up, and you gotta create. I'm a deer, I need to be a stallion, a black stallion. [Russell] gonna do all the running."

When Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and Terance Mann were all equally sharing the point guard position together, the team was 10-3. They only lost games to the Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Dallas Mavericks; the system was working. While it's great to hear George be so candid and honest, it's not entirely great to hear a max contract player so they wanted to move away from team success because they didn't want to be guarded by Jrue Holiday.
