LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard signed a three-year contract extension on Wednesday, which was seemingly the first domino in the team keeping their core together. Paul George, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook can all become free agents after this season, but with Leonard already extended, it seems likely the Clippers will be able to keep their core together.

When asked about this following Wednesday night's win over the Toronto Raptors, Leonard said, “I think for the most part, everybody is coming back."

Leonard was asked specifically about George and Harden, saying he believes his extension gives the Clippers a chance to also re-sign those two. George also spoke with reporters after the game, and revealed what Leonard's extension means for his future.

"You secure and lock in Kawhi, that definitely leaves the door open for myself. Very optimistic that something will get done on my behalf as well," George said.

While George stated multiple times that he and the Clippers will pick up extension talks when the time is right, the star forward made it clear that he wants to remain with this organization, and has a high level of optimism that it can get done. As George stated, Leonard re-signing definitely opens the door for him to make something happen as well.

Wednesday was a big day for the Clippers, especially with their new arena opening in the summer.
