Rajon Rondo Gets Honest About Chris Paul Beef
One of the most notable NBA beefs of the last decade is Rajon Rondo vs. Chris Paul. The two future Hall-of-Fame point guards have gotten into it over the years, most notably when Rondo played for the Los Angeles Lakers, and Paul played for the Houston Rockets. Both players spent time with the LA Clippers, with Paul headlining Lob City, and Rondo being a late-season acquisition in 2021.
Recently joining the Old Man and the Three podcast, Rondo got honest about his beef with Paul, saying, "We're kinda mutual friends with [Trevor Ariza], and he always says we have a lot of similarities. Maybe that's why we're so feisty and we compete the way we do against each other. Obviously it's a lot of respect for him and how he plays, and what he's done for his career."
Redick told Rondo that before he was teammates with Paul he didn't care for him, but that changed once they played together. Redick said perhaps the same could happen for Rondo and Paul if they ever crossed paths in the future, and Rondo laughed and said, "Who knows?"
Showing respect for Paul while acknowledging one of the likeliest reasons they always go at it, Rondo didn't take any shots at the veteran point guard, but instead explained how their similarities and competitiveness could have contributed to their beef over the years.
