Russell Westbrook Shares Message About Taylor Swift

Russell Westbrook and Taylor Swift have an unexpected friendship.

NBA players oftentimes have friendships with celebrities that fans could never expect. Dennis Smith Jr. is friends with J Cole, Shaquille O'Neal is friends with Adam Sandler, and Jimmy Butler is friends with Mark Wahlberg. There's one that fans may not know about though, and that's Russell Westbrook and Taylor Swift.

In a recent interview with Vogue, Russell Westbrook revealed that he and Taylor Swift are actually friends that share messages to each other. In fact, Taylor sent him one when he won the MVP award, which Westbrook is still grateful for.

"I did get a special thank you video," and "[I'm a] big Taylor Swift fan, and she was gracious enough to send a video and congratulate me on my award," Westbrook said.  "I have definitely been to multiple Taylor Swift shows, tours, whatever. I love her music. I am a fan, so."

Here's the exact message that Taylor Swift sent Westbrook around six years ago when he won the MVP.

"Russell, it's Taylor. Remember I was the one who taught you to play basketball," said Swift joked. "I was the one who taught you to dribble, to shoot hoops, and I remember the first time you beat me at basketball."

Russell Westbrook is one of the most respected and liked players in the NBA by other players. He has a personality that seems to shine through the television and into the hearts of not only fans but also other icons.
