Leading up to the NBA Draft, there were rumors that the Portland Trail Blazers had interest in trading for LA Clippers star Paul George. In a recent report from NBA insider Marc Stein, it was revealed that Portland is not interested in George, primarily due to his contract situation and injury history.

According to Stein, the Trail Blazers were not eager to deal for George, with his injury history and ability to become a free agent after next season being some of their primary concerns. George is set to make $45.6M next season, and has a $48.7M player option for 2024-25. Likely seeking a max extension for his next deal, George can opt out after next season and become an unrestricted free agent.

There have been several reports that indicate the Clippers are open to moving George this summer, but the team has remained publicly committed to the pairing of he and Kawhi Leonard. While President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank reiterated on Thursday that the Clippers plan to continue building around Leonard and George, things move fast in this league, and deals can present themselves at unexpected times.

For now, it doesn't sound like the Clippers are aggressively shopping George, but rather open to hearing what his value around the league might be. If he does get dealt, it seems like the Trail Blazers are out.
