Former Los Angeles Lakers Player Signs With New NBA Team

Wenyen Gabriel has reportedly signed with a new team.

The Memphis Grizzlies are no strangers to 10-day contracts this season, and they reportedly have another one coming on the way.

According to a report from Michael Scotto from Hoopshype, the Memphis Grizzlies have signed former Lakers big man Wenyen Gabriel to a 10-day contract. Gabriel has not played with an NBA team this season but did play with the Wisconsin Herd. His most recent team was the Los Angeles Lakers.

Last season with the Lakers, Wenyen Gabriel averaged 5.5 points, and 4.2 rebounds on 60% shooting from the field in 68 games. In the playoffs, Gabriel didn't receive anywhere near as much time, averaging only 1.0 points on 3.7 minutes a game in 10 games.

While one shouldn't expect Wenyen Gabriel to make a massive impact on the Memphis Grizzlies, he'll definitely bring the hustle that the team needs while shorthanded. Even though the Grizzlies are missing a plethora of star players, they've found a way to compete and hustle every single game. It's because of players like Wenyen Gabirel buying into the team's culture that this is possible.

The Grizzlies may be without Ja Morant, Marcus Smart, Desmond Bane, and more, but they've found some great pieces in GG Jackson and Jake LaRavia. This team has done a tremendous job of finding diamonds in the rough and, hopefully, will do it again with Wenyen Gabriel.
